Thanks to an innovative new collaboration between The Society, The Horse Trust and Redwings, new online training has been made available for all those who fit saddlery, be it saddles, bridles or harness, looking at welfare issues. The training provides fitters with guidance and understanding of current government legislation in this thought provoking area of the industry. The advice has been developed to help provide saddlery fitters with the latest developments and information on welfare issues and will assist them in clarifying actions or decisions taken in the course of their professional duties.
Our Past President Ted Boggis was the leading driver in inspiring the new training, thanks to his vision and focus on welfare along with his determination to do something practical. As a result we approached Redwings and The Horse Trust to develop training which would build on the central role saddlery fitters already play in upholding horse welfare.
The course is applicable to all those who come into contact with horses in their day to day work and the fee for other equestrian professionals has been sent at £30, however members receive a 50% discount and so only pay a fee of £15. All proceeds are divided equally between the SMS, Redwings and the Horse Trust and so by completing the course you are also contribution to these charities too.
This course counts towards your compulsory CPD and can be completed at your own pace online. Click on the photo to find out more.
