Your guide to becoming an SMS Registered & Qualified Saddle Fitter
The Society of Master Saddlers offers saddle fitting training for everybody.
Our in person Intro Saddle Fitting course is aimed at horses riders, owners and allied equine professionals who want to understand more about saddle fitting and how it can influence the horse. To gain the certificate for 6+ hours of CPD you will learn about optimal fit in relation to key anatomical features and the influence on the horse along with the impact saddle fit on the welfare and performance of the horse. With around one and a half hours of theory content the rest of the day consists of hands on sessions with a selection and how to fit them correctly.
For those wanting to pursue a career in Saddle Fitting, our Saddle Fitting pathway is assures and awarded by City & Guilds (C&G) the independent educational body. The journey to becoming a Society of Master Saddlers Registered Qualified Saddle Fitter (RQSF) is a hybrid course delivered via online theory to work through at your own pace with support from course lecturers and in person practical modules delivered by our team of experienced lecturers and qualified assessors. This takes approximately 18 months to complete.

Complement your Society of Master Saddler's saddle and/or bridle fitting development by attending courses provided by our training partners; BETA, Centaur Biomechanics and Horses Inside Out. Attendance of a one day First Aid course is also highly recommended.
