Bridle Fitting Training

Your guide to becoming an SMS Registered & Qualified Bridle Fitter

The Society of Master Saddlers offers bridle fitting training for everybody.

Our in person Bridle Fitting CPD course is aimed at horses riders, owners and allied equine professionals who want to understand more about bridle fitting and how it can influence the horse.  To gain the certificate for 6+ hours of CPD you will learn about optimal fit in relation to key anatomical features and the influence on the horse along with the impact of bits and bridles have on the welfare and performance of the horse.  With around one and a half hours of theory content the rest of the day consists of hands on sessions with a selection of bits and bridles commonly used and how to fit them correctly.  The fee for non members attending the course is £235.  Head over to our training site to reserve your space on the next CPD Day.

For those wanting to pursue a career in bridle fitting, our Assured Certificate in Bridle Fitting including Measuring and Bitting is the worldwide training & qualification for bridle & bit fitting that is verified & monitored by City & Guilds (C&G) the independent educational body.  The journey to becoming a Society of Master Saddlers Registered Qualified Bridle Fitter (RQBF) is a hybrid course delivered via online theory to work through at your own pace with support from course lecturers and in person practical modules delivered by our team of experienced lecturers and qualified assessors.  This takes approximately 18 months to complete.  The course is delivered in three stages covering many modules including anatomy, evolution of the bit and bridle, biomechanics and measuring.  As part of the course attendees will benefit from Trainee membership with the Society which on successful course completion and assessment can be upgraded to Registered Qualified Bridle Fitter (RQBF).  The course is £2599 which includes one assessment.  Any reassessments are charged separately.
